Just like any capital in the world there is a ridiculous amount of places to dine, let alone all the street markets and street vendor's.
If you are only going to visit one market in Taipei, Shilin Night Market (from 4pm til 2am – Jiantan Station) is the one to go to! Shopping and Food, what more could you want ?! However they have moved the main food area to the New Shilin Market, which is where you will find the "Flat Chicken" deep fried and delicious, the line for this chicken is normally 10+ people deep at any given time and of course it is worth the wait!!

The Chilli Crab is amazing, we had a huge selection of food, and i am a little unsure of the names of all the dishes, but it was all very tasty! Make sure you try the Plum Wine, and watch out for locals doing 'Gam-Bei' (which is something along the lines of ' see you at the bottom' ) !!
Now if you get a chance to journey out of Taipei, Tainan is the next best place to go for Food Markets, as it has the BIGGEST Outdoor Market in all of TAIWAN.
Hua Yuan Night Market (Huāyuán Yèshì 花園夜市)
Open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays; Haian Road, Section 3, between Lixian Rd. and Hewei Rd., North District.
This Night Market is full of delights, and some other strange things I would not eat!! However we did try as much as we could fit into our stomachs, and make sure you wash it all down with a ice cold tea! We spent at least 2 hours wandering every street, mostly food but there a few streets of clothing and nick-nacs and toys etc at the back of the market.
We visited KAOHSIUNG for 2 foodie reasons, for Qujin for the seafood street of MAIOQIAN St where there is numerous restaurants with the freshest seafood and you get to pick your own and they will cook it anyway you like, cheap and good quality, what more can you want! Oh and wash it down with a Pineapple Beer, yep beer that tastes like Pineapple, quiet a treat!

If you are visiting SUN MOON LAKE, Staying at THE LALU is a must, and its worth the price!
We ate dinner in the restaurant in The Lalu , The Oriental Brasseries, and my steak was one of THE BEST I have ever eaten.
